Worked with school Information Technology and Library departments to integrated student management systems into Destiny, Follett’s flagship software, using XSL/XML. Director of Information Technology

Responsible for planning, budgeting, implementation and support of Microsoft, Novell, Cisco and other technologies to accommodate rapid growth of a financial consulting company managing $14 billion in client assets. I was featured by Microsoft in a business success story for use on their web site and marketing materials.

Recent major upgrades and projects completed include Cisco AVVID IP phone system rollout, Microsoft Active Directory, Exchange 2000, SQL Server 2000, ColdFusion MX, and Windows XP deployment to all desktops. Other technologies used include Citrix, IIS, Veritas, Netware, Cisco switches, PIX firewall and VPNs.

Developed programs to automate the collection and reporting of financial data using SQL, Visual Basic, VBA, MS Access, FoxPro, and MS Office. Developed and maintained the company web site featuring secure report downloads to clients. Resulting efficiency improvements allowed the firm to more than triple their assets under management without increasing headcount during an eight year period.

Well versed in a wide variety of financial analysis software including Ibbotson, Mobius, Morningstar, Zephyr, and TechFi's SQL server based portfolio management system.

Managed staff of 4 technicians and provided sales support for computer systems integration company. I was also the lead engineer providing consulting services for all projects requiring network expertise integrating Unix, mainframe (DEC & IBM), Apple, and PC LAN platforms. Setup servers and wireless LANs on Microsoft and Netware networks. Clients included large government, corporate and small businesses. During my tenure, sales tripled to $12M while the firm's headcount remained around 12.

Project Leader, Information Services

I networked Comdisco's first computers in 1987 and assisted in its growth to a 2500 node worldwide network for the leading technology leasing and disaster recovery service provider. Implemented LAN to mainframe communications for data downloads to Sybase SQL Server and developed client-server office automation applications.

Managed 8 help desk support technicians. Received the 1 st “Employee of the Quarter” awarded by the president of the company for outstanding performance. Other awards include “Trailblazer” for successfully deploying new networking technologies, and an “I Have An Idea” employee suggestion program.

 
1983–1985 U.S. Defense Logistics Agency Hqtrs, Battle Creek , MI
PC Support Technician

Developed statistical reporting applications using PC databases and spreadsheets, which were used in Congressional reports. Setup new PCs and trained personnel to use spreadsheets and word processing. Received a “Sustained Superior Performance” award from the Brigadier General commanding the facility of 2000+ personnel.
